DigitalOcean CTO Julia Austin Named a Top Woman in Cloud Innovations
Press Release: DigitalOcean, the cloud for developers, today announced that its CTO Julia Austin has been named a top woman in cloud innovations by CloudNOW, the executive consortium for the leading women in cloud and converging technologies.
"Julia is one of the key cloud thought leaders who is pioneering the industry and leveling the playing field for future generations," said Jocelyn DeGance Graham, founder of CloudNOW. "We recognize Julia's dedication and passion for tech, and thank her for her continued contributions."
Austin has had an extensive career successfully leading high-growth organizations in technical positions and serves as a board member, advisor, and angel investor to early stage companies. Today she leads the engineering and product teams at DigitalOcean to drive innovation at one of the fastest growing cloud companies in the world. She is also a faculty member at Harvard Business School's Entrepreneurial Management Unit where she teaches Product Management to second-year MBA students, she serves as a trustee for the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA, and she's an active volunteer for both BUILD and Year Up in Boston.
Prior to DigitalOcean, Austin enjoyed an eight-year tenure at VMware where she managed the expansion of the engineering organization -- from launching its first non-CA-based engineering site in Cambridge, MA, to leading all of VMware's Global R&D initiatives, and eventually serving as Vice President of Innovation at VMware. Prior to VMware, she was the VP of Engineering at Akamai and held technical management and consulting positions at several other startups and enterprise companies.
"It's an honor to be recognized by CloudNOW," said Julia Austin, CTO of DigitalOcean. "DigitalOcean has been laser focused on innovating for developers and making the cloud simpler to use. It is a privilege to be able to work with a team dedicated to building elegant products and continuing to further support growing developer teams and larger applications in production."
DigitalOcean was recently named to the first-ever Forbes 2016 Cloud 100, the definitive list of the world's top-tier private companies leading the cloud technology revolution, InformationWeek's list of the 25 cloud vendors to watch and Wealthfront's annual list of career-launching companies.
